Dec 5: Kluster triumphs in Portugal
Kluster finishes 2004 with three wildly successful concerts in Portugal organized by Vasco Sacramento. Capacity and near capacity crowds were wildly enthusiastic, as was the press. A return to Portugal is set for 2005..

Oct 24: Pohjonen wins Kaapeli Prize
Kimmo Pohjonen won the Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory) prize of 15000 euros for further development of his work. This artistic award will enable Pohjonen to explore more the various possibilities of sounds, combinations and fusions of accordion in his current projects and future works.

Sept 7: Iron Lung compilation album
Soyuz Music in Moscow released a Russian market Pohjonen and Kluster compilation album entitled "Iron Lung" featuring tracks from the Kielo and Kluster albums. The CD launch was at the "Uniko" concert at MDM Youth Palace.

Sept 7: "Uniko" in Moscow
After two successful concerts at Helsinki Festival for almost 2000 people, Kimmo Pohjonen Kluster and Kronos Quartet performed another successful "Uniko" concert in Moscow at MDM Youth Palace for an audience of about 1600 people.

August 26: Kluster / Kronos World Premiere - "Uniko"
Kimmo Pohjonen and Samuli Kosminen, aka KIMMO POHJONEN KLUSTER, present their concert collaborations with famed American string ensemble Kronos Quartet. The World Premiere takes place in Helsinki on Sept 4th and 5th 2004 at Helsinki Festival, the city's most prestigious world and contemporary music event series.

Pohjonen and Kosminen together composed the new 80 minute work entitled "Uniko" specifically for this project.
"Uniko" features accordion, voice, string quartet, live loops, samples, effects, surround sound design by Heikki Iso-Ahola and light choreographics by Mikki Kunttu. Kosminen's samples consist entirely of accordion, voice and string sounds manipulated and reprocessed into new and fascinating audio elements. The Helsinki concerts will feature additional live video, designed specifically for these shows by Antti Kuivalainen.

The Helsinki concerts will be filmed by Moving Images of Austria, in cooperation with YLE Teema of Finland for 2005 and 2006 broadcasts in Finnish digital TV.

A third date is booked in the MDM Youth Place in Moscow, Sept 7.

April 26: Kluster TU triumphs in Tokyo
Kluster TU (Pohjonen, Kosminen, Mastelotto, Gunn) returned from Japan recently after four successful concerts in Shibuya, Tokyo, organized by Tom Ohsawa. Each of the four audiences in venue Eggman gave standing ovations to concerts that were truly thrilling and astounding. Opening act was the unique and eccentric singer / guitarist Katan Hiviya...On April 14th, Kimmo joined tuba player Daisuke Takaoka and butoh dancer Matsubara for a ninety minute improvised performance at Shibuya Gabowl . Kimmo also had time to meet with Japanese accordionist Coba, known for his work with Björk...

Feb 19: Kluster / Kronos collaboration - Kronos Quartet
Kimmo Pohjonen Kluster and Kronos Quartet announce a live concert collaboration project. Compositions for the project are by Kimmo Pohjonen and Samuli Kosminen. Rehearsals took place in San Francisco in March 2003 and in Helsinki, February 2004. The World Premiere concerts take place Sept 4,5 2004 at Helsinki Festival with extra dates being added.

Feb 12: Pohjonen / Kosminen / Mastelotto / Gunn - Kluster TU
Kimmo Pohjonen Kluster (Kimmo Pohjonen and Samuli Kosminen) will collaborate with American musicians Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn (from the band King Crimson). The new quartet collaboration project entitled Kluster TU begins with a World Premiere concert in Helsinki at Nosturi on 7.4 and four concerts in Tokyo at Eggman club on 10.4 and 11.4. Music for theproject is composed by Pohjonen / Kosmnen, arranged by the group.

Feb 9: Pohjonen / Liulia plan Animator
After the successful Manipulator project which was performed in Helsinki, Stockholm and Brugge, Kimmo Pohjonen and Marita Liulia continue and expand their collaboration in 2004 with a new eighty minute music and multimedia concert, Animator. Featuring even more multimedia design from Liulia and more physicality by Pohjonen, Animator will be more visually involved than Kimmo's original solo stage show. Surround sound by Heikki Iso-Ahola, lights by Mikki Kunttu, Jakke Kastelli programming, Tero Saarinen live action consultant. World Premiere is in Helsinki March 19 and 20 at Savoy Theatre.
